just peachy

For this summer's venture down to Tejas we decided to take our time. Instead of two horribly long days in the car, we opted for a short day, a long day, a day off, and a long day.

On our first day, after a slight detour for some meatballs at Ikea, we landed in Georgia to see some friends that we knew in Chicago. I hadn't seen my friend Penny in 4 years. Brian actually saw them a couple years ago when he stayed with them in Canada for an audition! Penny is just as amazing as ever, with 2 additional kids in tow now. Our kids played so well together. Chris and Penny fixed us a ridiculously amazing Rick Bayless meal and celebrated 3 kids' birthdays (including Elliott's) by blowing out candles three times in a row on her signature Australian pavlova cake. Penny and I had a good chat over cereal the next morning about our current church callings, as we have the same one (counselor over RS meetings)! It was sooooo great to be with their family again, if only for a few hours! We felt so loved.

look at all those blondes!
