Elliott is very imaginative and likes to take on other personas. A few weeks into the preschool year, his teacher asked me in all seriousness if his name had changed to "Alex." He had been so insistent on being called Alex that day that she wondered if that was his middle name and we were using that instead.The next week, he insisted the Bishop call him "Galax."
A name that he has used on a regular basis for a few weeks now is "Dan." Dan is the main character of one of his favorite cartoons, Bakugan. When it came time to sign his Valentine's for his class, he signed them, you guessed it, Dan. I wonder if when the parents looked through their child's Valentine's if they saw them and thought, 'oh no, we didn't make a Valentine for a Dan!'
Hopefully their anxiety was assauged when in the monthly newsletter from preschool they announced that Elliott (aka "Dan") would be leaving the Fabulous Frogs class because his family is moving to Salt Lake City.
So naturally at the park last week when my new friend asked Elliott his name, he replied with a serious face, "Astro."

I once told an old lady on the bus that my name was Cheetarah. My mom did not correct me, she just smiled. :)
This cracks me up, because Riley went through a phase where she'd tell people, in all seriousness, that her name was "Ariel."
My nephew did this very thing, only he was in 1st grade. Obsessed with all things Star Wars, he started signing his name as Anakin Blau (because Galaxy Far Far Far Away names go with solid German names). It last MONTHS, and then one day our of the blue, he went back to his real name...though to this day, he still loves all things Star Wars. His current "unique" thing is that he's talking in a slight French accent.
